Bob Milton

Bob will be joining the 90+ Academy in May - Here is a little about him.

Name: Bob Milton

Age: 23

Hometown: Liverpool

Brief Playing history:
Played football all my life! I Played schoolboy football as child and played representative football during my school years. Having played with a number of Semi-Professional teams from around the area I have now decided to play for my local church team team in the Merseyside Christian league.

Position:
Attacking Mid/Foward

Current Club and Where:
Fc West Derby, Liverpool

Previous Club:
Accrington Stanley FC, Burscough FC, Skelmersdale United FC

Testimony:
Having been brought up in a christian home I have attended church since I can remember, however it’s wasn’t until about 2 years ago that I started to take my faith seriously. Although I had never turned my back or disowned my faith, I wasn’t really living and walking the Christian life. Over the past 2 years I have seen my faith develop through taking on more responsabilities in my own church and really listening to what God is saying to me and acting upon it, even though I may see situations differently and not see the bigger picture!
I have also been on various football tours, both playing and coaching which has been a real eye opener and a real motivator in spreading the word of God and showing God’s glory both in the local community and further abroad.

How do you use football as a tool to share Jesus christ?
Football in my opinion is one of (if not) the best tool in sharing the love of Christ. As football is a multi national game and speaks its own language, barriers are broken in an instance through football. Football is played by a variety of people from different social backgrounds all of whom have the right to know more about Jesus Christ.
Playing tours and Coaching camps are a great way to spread the gospel both here in England and further afield.

What is player ministry to you?
Acting both on and off the field as Jesus would, people being able to see a difference in you by the way you conduct yourself throughout the season and wanting to know more.

3 Key aspects of Player Ministry?
Prayer (for team mates and yourself)
Living a life for Jesus every minute of the day (not just on the pitch)
Approachable and Always willing to listen

What/Where next?
To push myself as a footballer and to improve both on and off the pitch, and to follow as he leads me

Whats God be saying to you recently?
Really push myself as a young christian and to leave all my worries in his hands (1 peter 5 v 7)
Also to further his Kingdom by being an example to those who I meet daily.

Prayer points?
Pray that as many people will get to know the Lord Jesus and experience his goodness.

This is a great account Bob - it’s the first one I have read and it is refreshing to read. I like your conclusion: ‘leave all my worries in his hands (1 peter 5 v 7)’ I need reminding of that right now!
Bless ya! spence

What is the Academy?

Starting in May 2011, 90+ will welcome a squad of Christian athletes for a 4 month intense time of training and discipleship. 90+ is offeringa unique opportunity to train full time and develop as an athlete with the aim to take a step up in playing ability. Academy coaching staff will provide excellent training in order that the players progress and develop.

More so, we want our players to be fully equipped as ministers of the Gospel. We will provide relevant and sound Biblical teaching, combined with the experiences of serving the Church within their community. Help develop, equip and empower churches to share the Good News of Jesus through Sports Ministry. We desire that during the 4 months, the players will grow and recognise Christ as their foundation.

This is a unique and exciting 4 month programme covering all aspects of Player Ministry. It’s a great opportunity to combine your Passion for Christ with sport. A chance to develop and find new gifts. It is an opportunity to grow in your knowledge of God’s word and to be light and salt within your teams and communities.

At the end of the 4 months we will aim to send out the players as chaplains to minister on the teams which they sign too. We will work with the players over the 4 months to find contracts for them and get them to a position to shine during tryouts.
